Self-closing hinges: Automatically close the door after a short opening, bringing it to a closed position without manual effort, reducing draft, noise, and air leakage in interior spaces.. Typically achieved with a spring mechanism, inside the hinge, that biases the door toward the closed position as it nears the jamb.
Soft-closing hinges: Use dampers or hydraulic/pneumatic components to slow the door as it approaches the closed position, preventing slams and providing a controlled, quiet close. Soft-close dampers eliminate impact sounds and reduce wear on latches and frames, extending hinge life.
